Will Greg Little be the next Mike Williams?

You build winning teams late in the draft. Mike Williams was drafted in the fourth round last year and ended up being one of the top rookies in the NFL.  This year, Greg Little is projected to go in the 3-4th rounds and I think he could have an immediate impact, as well.  The similarities between Mike Williams of the Tampa Bay Bucaneers and former UNC RB/WR Greg Little run deep.  First and most importantly, on the field both have outstanding anticipation for the ball, a wide catching radius, and are able to produce after the catch.  Each has outstanding body control which allows them to make the spectacular catch.  Also, Williams and Little are long-striders with good speed for their size, deceptively fast.

Off the field, they both did not finish their last season of college football on the team. Nevertheless, smart teams recognize that their best football is ahead of them.  Little did not play in 2011 because he was suspended by the NCAA for inappropriate contact with an agent (because he’s so good).  In my opinion, that is a mistake a kid makes and it certainly shouldn’t be held against him when evaluating him in the NFL Draft.

I’ve always liked Little, even when he was a running back.  You could tell he was a special player from the way he chopped his feet to his catching ability. Not enough people are talking about Little, which makes me think he slips in the NFL Draft and becomes this year’s Mike Williams. Little will be a great pick if he goes later than the second round.
